Solothurn 1785 20 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 4460 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$416 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Solothurn, Stadt und Kanton, 20 Kreuzer 1785, Solothurn. Schräg gerippter Rand. Vorzüglich. (Switzerland, canton of Solothurn, twenty kreuzer of 1785, Solothurn mint. Extremely Fine.)"
In Germany, the convention thaler was 120 kreuzer but 160 kreuzer in Switzerland. Four kreuzer made a batzen and twenty kreuzer was one eighth thaler. This denomination was accompanied by a ten kreuzer. The reverse motto, "CUNCTA PER DEUM", translates as, "United by God."
