Solothurn 1787 1/2 batzen
This specimen was part of lot 5467 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ. Solothurn. Stadt und Kanton. 10 Kreuzer 1794, Solothurn. Halbbatzen 1787. Lot von 2 Stück. 10 Kreuzer: Hübsche Patina. Halbbatzen: Kleines Zainende. Vorzüglich- fast FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Solothurn, ten kreuzer of 1794 and half batzen of 1787, Solothurn mint. Ten kreuzer: Attractively toned; half batzen: Minor edge clip, About Uncirculated-About Mint State, two pieces.)"
This fairly common type was struck 1760-62, 1787, 1793-96. One thaler was forty batzen. The reverse motto, "CUNCTA PER DEUM", translates as, "United by God."
