Sincona sale 98, lot 4449

This specimen was lot 4449 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 425 CHF (about US$617 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Solothurn, Stadt und Kanton, 10 Batzen 1785, Solothurn. Laubrand. Fast FDC. Feine Patina. Exemplar der Auktion Lugdunum 22, Solothurn, Dezember 2022, Los 746. (Switzerland, canton of Solothurn, ten batzen of 1785, Solothurn mint, leafed edge. About Mint State, Nicely toned.)"

Ten batzen made one quarter thaler. This type was struck 1773, 1778 and 1785 and is fairly expensive. The reverse motto, "CUNCTA PER DEUM", translates as, "United by God."
