This type was struck 1980-84 and is common. It superseded a copper-nickel type (KM 2) struck for circulation 1967-80. In 1985, the denomination was converted to aluminum bronze. As of August 2019, US$1 = SGD $1.39.
Recorded mintage: 4,016,000 plus 15,000 in silver.
Specification: 1.3 g, copper-nickel plated steel, 16.25 mm diameter.
