This type was struck 1976-85 and is common. It superseded a bronze type (KM 1) struck for circulation 1967-76 altho the bronze alloy was used for the proofs until 1984. In 1986, the weight was reduced to 1.53 g. As of August 2019, US$1 = SGD $1.39.
Recorded mintage: 38,194,000 plus 30,000 in silver.
Specification: 1.75 g, copper-plated steel, 17.78 mm diameter.
