This type was struck 1976-85 and is common. It superseded a bronze type (KM 1) struck for circulation 1967-76 altho the bronze alloy was used for the proofs until 1984. In 1986, the weight was reduced to 1.53 g. As of January 2025, US$1 = SGD $1.37.

Recorded mintage: 19,922,000.

Specification: 1.74 g, copper plated steel, 17.78 mm diameter, plain edge.
