Künker sale 439, lot 2500

This specimen was lot 2500 in Künker sale 439 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €4,200 (about US$5,778 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM Friedrich August I., 1694-1733 (August der Starke). 1/4 Dukat 1696, Dresden. GOLD. RR Vorzüglich. (electorate of Saxony, quarter ducat of 1696, Dresden mint. Very rare, extremely fine.)"

This rare type was struck 1696 only and accompanied a five ducats (Fr-2769), single ducat (Fr-2770), half ducat (Fr-2772) and another quarter ducat (Fr-2773).

Specification: 0.87 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 0,85 g.
