Sincona sale 9, lot 3845

This specimen was lot 3845 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 450 CHF (about US$569 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Sachsen, ab 1547 Kurfürstentum, Albertiner. Johann Georg II. 1656-1680. Taler 1660. Fast vorzüglich-vorzüglich. (Germany, Electorate of Saxony, Christian II, John George and August under joint rule, 1591-1611, thaler of 1611, Dresden mint. Very fine to choice very fine.)"

In addition to this type, struck 1658-67, 1678-80, the SCWC notes a thaler struck on quarter thaler dies (Dav-7617A).

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.
