Künker Auction 426, lot 3788

This specimen was lot 3788 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €210 (about US$297 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM Johann Georg II., 1656-1680. Reichstaler 1663, Dresden. Erbländischer Taler. Mit Münzmeisterzeichen CR und Eichel. Hübsche Patina, min. Henkelspur, kl. Graffito im Feld der Vorderseite, sehr schön. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, John George II, 1656-80, "hereditary" thaler of 1663, Dresden mint, with acorn privy mark. Handsome patina, small graffito in the obverse field, very fine.)"

struck 1658-67, 1678-80, all with initials "CR". It was issued concurrently with Dav-7619, which shows a plumed helmet on the table instead of the electoral cap shown here.
