Künker sale 354, lot 5865

This specimen was lot 5865 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €380 (about US$529 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Johann Georg I. 1615-1656. 1/4 Reichstaler 1623, Dresden. Mit Münzstättenzeichen Schwan. Feine Tönung, fast vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of Saxony, John George I, 1615-56, quarter thaler of 1623, Dresden mint, with swan mintmark. Fine toning, about extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1623-27 and strongly resembles the concurrent thaler (Dav-7601).
