CNG Triton XXVIII, lot 6359

This specimen was lot 6359 in CNG Triton XXVIII (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $520.62. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY, Sachsen (Duchy & Electorate [Albertine line]). Johann Georg I. Elector, 1611-1656. AR Halbtaler. Dresden mint; mm: swan. Dated 1618. Armored half-length bust right, holding sword over shoulder and ornately crested helmet / Coat-of-arms. Toned. In NGC encapsulation 2700056-011, graded AU 58. Top Pop." This half thaler was struck 1617-24. It is not rare but is less often seen than the thaler (Dav-7591).
