This specimen was lot 1840 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 120 CHF (about US$150 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA | Russian Empire and Federation | Nicholas II. 1894-1917. Kopeck 1899, Rosenkranz Works in St. Petersburg, SPB. NGC MS65BN." This type is listed for 1867-1914. The nineteenth century dates are scarce in nice condition but the later dates are common with, of course, the exception of the proofs. In 1914, Russia plunged into World War One, which conflict would lead to the destruction of the regime.
