This specimen was lot 40766 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $14,375. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Ruble, 1898-AT. NGC MS-64. Completion of the Alexander II Memorial commemorative. Attractive toning with cobalt blue highlights, particularly around the legend. From the Demarete Collection." In 1886, the ruble was reduced to 20 grams after having been fixed at 20.73 grams since 1798. This commemorative is rare.
