This specimen was lot 33700 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nicholas II gold 5 Roubles 1898-AГ MS65 NGC, St. Petersburg mint. A true gem with abounding luster and well-preserved surfaces." This type was struck 1897-1911 in sufficient numbers as to be considered a bullion coin. At the time of issue, 8 French gold francs = 3 Russian gold rubles.
