This specimen was lot 23565 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Las Vegas, August 2020), where it sold for $204. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 25 Kopeks, 1877-CNB HO. St. Petersburg Mint. Alexander II. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. A sharply struck coin with satiny luster and hints of almond toning." This type was struck 1861-85 at St. Petersburg. Most dates have small mintages but 1877 and 1878 are common. The weight was changed to 5 g, 0.900 fine in 1886 with no change in silver content.
Recorded mintage: 1,776,000 (both mintmasters HI and HФ).
