Stack's Bowers 2024 NYINC sale, lot 58264

This specimen was lot 58264 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 25 Kopeks, 1877-CNB HI. St. Petersburg Mint. Alexander II. PCGS MS-63. From the Vladimir Greyf Collection." This type was struck 1861-85 at St. Petersburg. Most dates have small mintages but 1877 and 1878 are common. The weight was changed to 5 g, 0.900 fine in 1886 with no change in silver content.

Recorded mintage: 1,776,000 (both mintmasters HI and HФ).

Specification: 5.18 g, 0.868 fine silver.
