Russia 1875-SP NI 25 kopeks
This specimen was lot 42566 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 25 Kopeks, 1875-CNB HI. St. Petersburg Mint. Alexander II. PCGS MS-63. A beautifully preserved near-Gem of this RARE date, featuring smooth surfaces over both sides that are complimented by gray tone in the centers and blue and amber color around the designs. Noteworthy as the single finest graded example at PCGS with two example[s] equaling it at NGC." This type is listed for 1859-85 and was emitted in modest quantities. This specimen realized nearly seven times the catalog value. The twenty-five kopeks superseded the polupoltinnik (quarter ruble) last coined in 1810.
