This specimen was lot 30482 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nicholas I silver 10 Kopecks 1852 CПБ-HI AU58 NGC, St. Petersburg mint. Obv. Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle. Rev. Crowned date and value in wreath. Sharply struck, with mottled gray and russet toning over lightly abraded surfaces. A very rare issue. The is the single finest certified example of only two pieces certified by NGC and PCGS combined." This type was struck 1832-58 in large numbers and this is a common date. The SCWC mentions assayers PA and HI (shown here). In 1859, the silver was reduced to 0.750 fine and reduced again to 0.500 fine in 1867.

Recorded mintage: 1,350,000 (both assayers).

Specification: 2.07 g, 0.868 fine silver, .028 troy oz ASW.
