This specimen was lot 32242 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $3,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "Russia: Nicholas I Proof 25 Kopecks 1850 PR64 CПБ-ПA PR64+ Cameo NGC, St. Petersburg mint. A stunning example, with light reddish patina, boldly defined devices and deeply mirrored fields. The frosted device give this piece a nice cameo appearance. Very rare in Proof and the finest certified example." This type is listed for 1832-58 and was emitted in substantial quantities at St. Petersburg and Warsaw. This date is common. The assayer is Paul Alexiev.
