Sincona sale 19, lot 655

This specimen was lot 655 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 550 (about US$689 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Poltina 1851, St. Petersburg Mint, ПА. Old ink mark. Interesting variant. About extremely fine." This type is listed for 1832-58 and was emitted in substantial quantities at St. Petersburg and Warsaw. This date is common. The assayer is Paul Alexiev.

Recorded mintage: 800,000.

Specification: 10.36 g, 0.868 fine silver, .289 troy oz ASW, 28.5 mm diameter, this specimen 10.31 g.
