Steve Album sale 54, lot 2849

This specimen was lot 2849 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA: EMPIRE: Nicholas I, 1825-1855, AE denga (1/2 kopek), 1851-BM, label erroneously inscribed "kopek", hints of red, PCGS graded AU58." This type was struck 1850-55 at Ekaterinburg (mintmark EM) and also Warsaw (shown here) 1850-55. The Ekaterinburg mint made denezhkas until 1876. The weight standard given here is from Numista; the 4 g given in the SCWC is wrong.
