Sincona sale 93, lot 1198

This specimen was lot 1198 in Sincona sale 93 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 525 CHF (about US$728 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSLAND Kaiserreich und Föderation, Nicholas I. 1825-1855, Polushka 1850, Ekaterinburg Mint, EM. Selten, Rare. 5 roubles according to Petrov. 1 rouble according to Ilyin. NGC MS63 BN."

This type was struck 1850-55 at Ekaterinburg (shown here) and also Warsaw (mintmark BM) 1850-53. The Ekaterinburg mint made polushkas until 1876. The weight standard given here is from Numista; the 3 g given in the SCWC is wrong.

Recorded mintage: 5,184,000.
