This specimen was lot 25375 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it sold for $805. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nicholas I Poltina (1/2 Rouble) 1831 CПБ-HГ, Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle with date / Four-line inscription in wreath, AU Details, Surface Hairlines NGC. Lustrous and well struck with light marks. Scarce in this condition." Altho struck in much much smaller numbers than the contemporary ruble, this type struck at St. Petersburg 1826-31 has a lower catalog value. In 1832, the eagle was modified to the "wings up" type (KM C167.1).

Recorded mintage: 140,000.

Specification: 10.36 g, 0.868 fine silver.
