Sincona sale 47, lot 2135

This specimen was lot 2135 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Russland, Nikolaus I. 1825-1855. Rubel 1828, St. Petersburg, HT. NGC AU DETAILS (SURFACE HAIRLINES). (Russia, Nicholas I, 1825-55, ruble of 1828, St. Petersburg mint. About uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1826-31 in reasonable quantities but is today very rare in nice condition. The preceding type (Dav-281) is very similar but with a "wings up" eagle.

Recorded mintage: 2,530,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 20.73 g, 0.868 fine silver.
