This specimen was lot 24890 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $7,931.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Catherine II Rouble 1771 CПБ-ЯЧ, St. Petersburg mint, AU58 NGC. Brilliant mint luster covers surfaces free of detracting imperfections. The details are sharply struck, and a light spray of golden color enhances this pleasing example. No finer pieces have been certified." This type was issued from St. Petersburg (shown here) and Moscow 1764-96. This type, issued 1763-82, is fairly common as is this date.
Recorded mintage: 1,025,000 (both assayers).
