Stack's Bowers September 2024 Collectors Choice sale 3021, lot 75416

This specimen was lot 75416 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 1/4 Kopek, 1771-EM. Ekaterinburg Mint. Catherine II (the Great). NGC EF-40 Brown. A slightly off-center strike as is usual for this type, with deep brown patina and a decent amount of detail." This type was struck at Ekaterinburg 1766-76, 1786-90 and 1794-96. This type was also struck at Suzun (KM) and Anninskoye (no mintmark) but those issues are much scarcer.

Recorded mintage: 4,470,000.

Specification: 2.6 g, copper, 20 mm diameter.
