Sincona sale 19, lot 224

This specimen was lot 224 in Sincona sale 19 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 900 (about US$1,128 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Polushka 1757, Ekaterinburg Mint. Novodel. Milled edge. Very rare. Choice brilliant uncirculated with mint lustre." The original type was struck 1757-59 and is quite a bit scarcer than preceding and succeeding types.

Recorded mintage: 1,830,000.

Specification: 2.56 g, copper, this specimen 4.23 g, diameter 22.7-23.0 mm (novodels are frequently overweight).
