This specimen was lot 32267 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $14,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "Charming Trade Issue of Empress Elizabeth, RUSSIA. Ducat, 1757-CNB. St. Petersburg Mint. Elizabeth. NGC AU Details--Cleaned. A one-year trade issue, this example provides strong overall details throughout and exhibits very minimal wear and handling. Some cleaning as noted is observed as well, but remains at a decided minimum. Overall, an exceptionally pleasing and charming representative of a SCARCE and very seldom encountered type. From the Robert D. Reed Collection." This one year type, tho minted in a substantial quantity, is now very rare. In the nineteenth century, the regime made millions of counterfeit Dutch ducats, a practice which ended only in the 1840's when the Dutch government protested.
