Sincona sale 78, lot 226

This specimen was lot 226 in Sincona sale 78 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$360 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA | Russian Empire and Federation | Elizabeth, 1741-1761, Poltina 1749, Red Mint, MMD. 3.5 roubles according to Petrov. Fine-very fine. Small scratches on obverse." This type was struck at St. Petersburg 1743-51 and Moscow 1742-49 in small numbers and it is expensive today.
