Prussia 1914-A 3 mark
This specimen was lot 74754 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. 3 Mark, 1914-A. Berlin Mint. Wilhelm II. NGC MS-65+. Military Bust non-commemorative issue. About as nice as available with light silvery color and seemingly unending luster." This military bust three mark was struck 1914 only. It recycled a bust from the extremely common three mark of 1913 commemorating the 25th anniversary of the reign of William II, who would lose his throne in 1918. This issue accompanied a similar five mark (KM 536) and twenty mark (KM 537).
