This specimen was lot 46709 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $145. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Lubeck. 3 Mark, 1914-A. Berlin Mint. PCGS AU-58. From the Ralph Titus World War I Collection." This type was struck 1908-14. It is not rare but is still triple the price of a common Wurttemberg three mark. The three mark was roughly equal to the old thaler and superseded it after 1908. Lübeck contracted most of its coinage from Hamburg but this type was struck at Berlin.
Recorded mintage: 10,000 plus proofs.
Specifications: 16.67 g, 0.900 fine silver, 33 mm diameter.
