Künker sale 293, lot 407

This specimen was lot 407 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €280 (about US$377 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH Friedrich Wilhelm IV. 1840-1861. Taler 1855, A. Ausbeute. Prachtexemplar. Fast Stempelglanz. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William IV, 1840-61, mining thaler of 1855. Proof example, about uncirculated.)"

This mining thaler of 1853-56 is common, more common than the regular issue (Dav-773) with 150 times the mintage.

Recorded mintage: 50,000.

Specification: 22.27 g, 0.750 fine silver.
