Prussia 1856-A 2 thaler Dav-772
This specimen was lot 4104 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,300 (about US$1,809 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm IV. 1840-1861. Vereinsdoppeltaler 1856, A. Auf den unteren Falten des Wappenmantels die Signatur L - H (Medailleur August Ludwig Held). Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Erworben am 6.7.1970. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William IV, 1840-61, double thaler of 1856, with initials "L H" in the folds of the mantle around the arms. Extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This double thaler of 1853-56 is fairly common and this is the highest mintage date.
