This specimen was lot 2490 in Goldberg sale 117 (Los Angeles, September 2020), where it sold for $102. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Prussia. Death Taler, 1786-A. Friedrich II, The Great, 1740-1786. Cleaned. Very Fine." This type varies from the regular issue of Frederick the Great (struck 1775-86) by the addition of dots on either side of the mintmark. It is known as the death thaler as it was struck in the year of his death altho the event is not mentioned on the coin.
Recorded mintage: 192,871 (including KM 332.1).
Specification: 22.27 g, 0.750 fine silver.
