Prussia 1790-A thaler Dav-2597
This specimen was lot 1235 in Jean Elsen sale 135 (Brussels, December 2017), where it sold for €130 (about US$180 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, PRUSSE, Friedrich Wilhelm II (1786-1797), AR Taler, 1790A, Berlin. D/ B. à d. R/ Aigle prussien à d. Petites taches. Très Beau. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick WIlliam II, 1786-97, silver thaler of 1790, Berlin mint. Obverse: bust right; reverse: Prussian eagle to right. Minor nicks, very fine.)"
This type was struck 1786-90 at Berlin (shown here) and Breslau. Both this and Dav-2599 (with a different reverse) were struck in 1790; this type is slightly more common.
