Künker sale 353, lot 3901

This specimen was lot 3901 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €420 (about US$585 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm II. 1786-1797. Reichstaler preuß. 1789, B, Breslau. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William II, 1786-97, thaler of 1789, Breslau mint. Very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type was struck at Berlin, Breslau (shown here) and Königsberg 1788-91. These coins saw hard use and are frequently found heavily worn. As they were only 0.750 fine, they were spent and the issues of other principalities hoarded.
