Künker sale 353, lot 3550

This specimen was lot 3550 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €280 (about US$390 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/12 Taler 1768, F, Magdeburg. Berliner Typ. Jahrgang von größter Seltenheit. Nur wenige Exemplare bekannt. Zainende, fast sehr schön/sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion Westfälische Auktionsgesellschaft 7, Dortmund 1996, Nr. 24. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, one-twelfth thaler of 1768, Magdeburg mint, Berlin bust. Very rare date, perhaps the only one known. Clipped, about very fine.)"

This type was struck 1764-72 at Magdeburg and Konigsberg and is common.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a rare date.
