Prussia 1758-F 18 groscher
This specimen was lot 3799 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €130 (about US$181 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 18-Gröscher 1758, F, Magdeburg. Prägung während des Siebenjährigen Krieges. Kl. Zainende, sehr schön +. Erworben am 23.2.1976. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, eighteen groscher of 1758, Magdeburg mint, struck during the Seven Years War, light clip, very fine or better.)"
This was the last of the denomination struck for East Prussia before the province was occupied by the Russians during the Seven Years' War. This 18 groscher with a crowned bust of Frederick was also struck at Berlin (KM C284.1) in 1758-59. Normal peacetime issues did not resume until 1763 and then only at Königsberg.
