Künker sale 353, lot 3299

This specimen was lot 3299 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €260 (about US$362 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm I. der Soldatenkönig, 1713-1740. 18-Gröscher 1714, CG, Königsberg. Prägung für das Herzogtum Preußen. Ohne Stempelschneidersignatur. Münzmeister Caspar Geelhaar. R Fast sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion Westfälische Auktionsgesellschaft 6, Dortmund 1996, Nr. 227. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William I, the Soldier King, 1713-40, eighteen groscher of 1714, Königsberg mint, struck for the duchy of Prussia, without initials. Rare, about very fine.)"

This type, along with a three groscher, six groscher and a schilling, was struck in 1714, 1716-17 for use in Prussia and neighboring Poland.

Recorded mintage: 67,250 for 1714 and 1716.

Specification: 6.32 g, 0.640 fine silver, 28 mm diameter, this specimen 5,73 g.
