Künker sale 353, lot 3244

This specimen was lot 3244 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €6,500 (about US$9,046 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm I. der Soldatenkönig, 1713-1740. Dukat 1713, IFS, Berlin. Das Brustbild mit Lorbeerkranz und umgelegtem Ordensband, am Rand Signatur L. Münzmeister Jobst Friedrich Sauerbrey. Stempelschneider Christian Friedrich Lüders. GOLD. RR Sehr schön +. Exemplar der Auktion Dr. Busso Peus Nachf. 283, Frankfurt/Main 1974, Nr. 622. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William I, the Soldier King, 1713-40, ducat of 1713, Berlin mint. Obverse: laureate bust with order sash, initial "L" on edge. Very rare, very fine or better.)"

This rare type is listed in the SCWC as 1713-L/FS but the mintmaster's initials are clearly "IFS" on the reverse. All of Friedrich Wilhelm's ducats are rare.
