Künker sale 353, lot 3257

This specimen was lot 3257 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €950 (about US$1,322 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich Wilhelm I. der Soldatenkönig, 1713-1740. 1/4 Dukat 1713, HFH, Magdeburg. Mit kleiner Büste und auf der Rückseite teilt die Sonne die Umschrift. Münzmeister Heinrich Friedrich Halter. GOLD. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Erworben am 29.5.1990. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick William I, the Soldier King, 1713-40, quarter ducat of 1713, Magdeburg mint, with small bust and a sunburst dividing the reverse legend. Very fine to extremely fine.)"

All of Friedrich Wilhelm's ducats are rare and this one is no exception.
