This specimen was lot 12459 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $4,112. The catalog description[1] noted, "PORTUGAL. 4 Escudos, 1792. PCGS MS-65. Maria I (1786-99). Highest graded by PCGS." This type was struck 1789-99 but is seldom seen compared to similar coins that were struck in Brazil (Fr-87).
