The first specimen was lot 5242 in Sincona sale 4 (Zürich, October 2011), where it sold for 900 CHF (about US$1,197 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"PORTUGAL Maria I. 1786-1799 Quartinho (1000 Reis) 1792. Gekröntes Wappen. Rv. Kreuz von Jerusalem, in den Winkeln Blüten. Fast vorzüglich. (Portugal, Maria I, 1786-99, quartinho or thousand réis of 1792. Obverse: crowned arms; reverse: Jerusalem cross with florets in corners. Nice extremely fine.)"

The second specimen was lot 1938 in Sincona sale 6 (Zürich, May 2012), where it did not sell. This type is recorded for 1787-92 and is listed as scarce.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 2.68 g, 0.917 fine gold, .079 troy oz AGW, 18 mm diameter; this specimen 2,74 g.
