Portugal 1789 6400 reis
This specimen was lot 1641 in Jean Elsen sale 150 (Brussels, March 2022), where it sold for €1,000 (about US$1,326 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"PORTUGAL, Maria, veuve de Pedro III (1786-1799), AV peça (6400 reis), 1789, Lisbonne. D/ B. voilé et diad. à d. R/ Ecu couronné dans un cartouche orné. Petits coups. Très Beau à Superbe. (kingdom of Portugal, Maria, widow of Peter III, 1786-99, gold 6400 réis of 1789, Lisbon mint. Obverse: veiled and diademed bust right; reverse: arms in an ornate cartouche. Minor nicks, Very Fine - Extremely Fine.)"
This type was struck 1789-99 but is seldom seen compared to similar coins that were struck in Brazil (Fr-87).
