Sincona sale 84, lot 343

This specimen was lot 343 in Sincona sale 84 (Zürich, October 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 15 Kopecks - 1 Zloty 1840, St. Petersburg Mint, NG. Variety with "ZLOTY". Bitkin 1122. Very rare variety. Very fine."

This type was struck 1832-41 at Warsaw and St. Petersburg. One złoty equaled fifteen kopeks. Russian coinage for Poland ended in 1850 altho the Warsaw mint continued to operate.

Recorded mintage: 1,060,001.

Specification: 3.11 g, 0.868 fine silver, 19 mm diameter, this specimen 3.15 g.
