The first specimen was lot 229 in Sincona sale 46 (Zürich, May 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Pfalz-Kurlinie, Karl Theodor, 1742-1799. Dukat 1750, Düsseldorf oder Mannheim. Selten. Vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of Pfalz, Charles Theodore, 1742-99, ducat of 1799, Dusseldorf or Mannheim mint. Rare, Extremely fine.)"

The second specimen was lot 2065 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,366 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"PFALZ, KURFÜRSTENTUM, Karl Theodor, 1743-1799. Dukat 1750, Düsseldorf oder Mannheim. GOLD. RR Kl. Kratzer, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of Pfalz, Charles Theodore, 1743-99, ducat of 1750, Dusseldorf on Mannheim mints. Very rare, minor scratches, very fine to extremely fine.)"

Charles Theodore was elector of the Palatinate, duke of Julich-Berg and later elector of Bavaria. The SCWC lists five different ducats for this locale for 1750, all rare.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, the first specimen 3.47 g, the second specimen 3.51 g.
