Stack's Bowers October 2020 Collectors Choice sale, lot 72500

This specimen was lot 72500 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it sold for $630. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 20 Soles, 1967. Lima Mint. NGC MS-66. A pleasing Gem with mutely reflective fields and dark golden hue." This denomination, struck 1950-69, was theoretically a circulating coin but actually was a bullion piece like her sisters, the gold five, ten, fifty and hundred soles.

Recorded mintage: 5,003.

Specification: 9.36 g, 0.900 fine gold, .269 troy oz AGW, 22 mm diameter.
