Peru 1967 10 centavos

The ten centavos denomination was originally occupied by the silver dinero, struck 1863-1917. It was superseded by a copper-nickel coin in 1918, which was replaced by a brass type in 1942 when World War Two drove up the price of nickel. This type, issued 1966-73, comes in thick and thin varieties.

Recorded mintage: 19,330,000.

Specification: 2.17 g, brass, 17.9 mm diameter, reeded edge.
