This specimen was lot 3777 in Goldberg sale 75 (Los Angeles, September 2013), where it sold for $1,783. The catalog description[1] noted, "Peru. 50 Soles, 1967. Head of Indian Chief, Manco Capoc left. Reverse: Inca emblems. NGC graded MS-64." This type, struck to the standard of a United States $20 gold piece, was struck 1930-31 and 1967-69. A later type struck 1950-70 weighed only 23.40 grams.
