from the Stack's Bowers 2017 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72870

This specimen was lot 72870 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it sold for $176.25. The catalog description^[1] noted, "PERU. 5 Soles, 1967. NGC MS-67. Superb gem." This denomination, struck 1956-69, was theoretically a circulating coin but actually was a bullion piece like her sisters, the gold fifty, ten, twenty and hundred soles.
